But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

In a Bible lesson I taught one time, I talked with my class about "God-incidences", or incidences in peoples' lives that seem to be coincidences, but in actuality are the workings of the Holy Spirit. The fact that I am here at ACA is a "God-incidence". Long ago, my twin sister met a man whose sisters live in Ankeny. Shortly after, I met a man who would end up moving to Des Moines to go to medical school. Only God knew that my sister and I had found our life partners. I became engaged to my now husband and needed to look for a teaching job in the Des Moines area. With the help of my new brother-in-law and his sister, I discovered ACA and shortly after was welcomed to be a part of the staff at this wonderful school.

Growing up in Holland, MI, I went to the Holland Christian Schools for K-12th grade and spent my summers running, swimming, and playing at the beach. After completing high school I went to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, uncertain of what career I wanted to pursue. I decided to give education a try, knowing that the gifts God has given me correlate with qualities it takes to be an elementary teacher. God convinced me that this was His plan for me by giving me a passion and excitement for what I was learning. Along with my aspiration to become a teacher, I had a passion for running. I was privileged to be a part of Calvin's extraordinary cross-country and track programs all 4 years of college.

Today, I still love running and competing, as well as doing many other outdoor sports and activities. I love to travel, I love to read, and most of all I love to exert my  limitless energy toward the challenge of educating young people. My heart swells for my students and I truly love what I do. I thank God for bringing me to ACA and for giving me the chance to serve him by being a Christ-like model to the students here.
