I consider myself blessed to say that I have been surrounded by Christ my entire life. I was born and raised in a Christian home, being involved in both church activities and school functions from early on in life.

I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to attend Christian based schools for all of my education. I started preschool at Des Moines Christian on my 4th birthday (the joys of a late August birthday!). I continued to learn and grow, both spiritually and educationally through the years there. I was a part of the graduating class of 2005 before continuing on to Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa for a degree in Education. I graduated in the spring of 2009 with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.

In the summer of 2009 I married my high school sweetheart. Isaiah was a year younger then me in school, but followed me up to Dordt for a year before transferring to another school. He is currently working in the Sales Department at Satellite City. We live here in Ankeny with our two cats: Charlie and Kinnick. We enjoy living in Ankeny, especially with our families being so close. Isaiah's live here in Ankeny, with an older brother who lives near Chicago, Illinois and a younger sister who is in her freshman year at DMACC. My parents live in Clive and I have one sister who is a junior at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, and then my youngest sister is a senior at Des Moines Christian School and will be attending Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan this fall.

My desire to work with children is something I have always been interested in. My parents encouraged this path, helping me find different baby-sitting jobs, as well as two full-time nanny jobs for two summers while I was in high school. They also encouraged me to apply to ChildServe my first year at College. It was both a joy and a challenge. I learned a lot about patience that first summer, as well as learning to identify and love what makes each child so unique to themselves. I also learned the importance of working with other individuals, whether a co-worker or parent, to bring about the best for a child.

I became a Christian at a young age, but it wasn't until I was a young adult that I truly became aware of how amazing God truly is. Working with kids is amazing and has showed me a little into God's beautiful plan and how deep his love is for us, whether it is helping a young child learn to read, or playing with a child in the snow. Seeing their bright toothy grins always brings a smile to my face. I continue to grow spiritually as I grow physically with my continued experiences I have. This fall, my husband and I started helping out with the youth group at Capital City Baptist Church. Over the last couple of months, I have had to go over my own walk with God as I try and help these teenagers with theirs.

God Bless!
