Hi! My name is Juern Akkermann. I am the Custodian at Ankeny Christian Academy. I am also currently attending Faith Baptist Bible College. My wife Emily Akkermann is the second grade teacher here at ACA. We are both happy and blessed to be a part of ACA.

I was born and raised in a Christian home near Forest City, Iowa. One Sunday at church I learned Christ died on the cross for my sins. I was 3 or 4 years old at the time and had many questions, but was old enough to understand that I was a sinner. Later that week I went with my mother out to the machine shop on our farm to see my father. He was working on a bean bar (a bar that attaches to the front of a tractor and four people sit on it and spray weeds as it goes over rows of soybeans.) The bar that people rested their feet on was in the shape of a cross. The sun was behind us and while we were talking I notice that the bar made a shadow of a cross on the ground. This brought to memory what I had learned that Sunday and I then asked my parents a few questions and prayed with them. A few years after becoming saved I was baptized and joined our church in Forest City.

A verse that is a good reminder to me is James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (ESV)
