Fifth and Sixth Grade Teacher

I am delighted to be a part of Ankeny Christian Academy as part-time receptionist and part-time 5th grade teacher. I have a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. I have taught previously in Christian schools, public schools, a private collegiate preparatory, as well as had the privilege to home-school. I have three daughters-one in college and two attending ACA.

I grew up in a home and church that taught me the foundational truths about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Ten Commandments. During my sophomore year in high school, I was invited by a close friend to attend a retreat. It was there that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal Savior. This changed my heart, as I received His unconditional love, complete forgiveness of all my sins and full assurance of living in Heaven one day. My life has since forever been changed, as I live to glorify God. I choose to love and honor the Lord, and love and serve others, but not live to earn His favor to be accepted into His family.

I love reading Scripture and being aware of another great verse to know from God throughout the week. So my "favorite" verse changes regularly. But one that often comes to mind is Proverbs 3:5-6-"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."

Through various seasons in my life, good times and difficult ones, this verse reminds me to trust in God and His plan, for His goodness will prove evident. He is so faithful to this!
