I am married and have two children who attend Ankeny Christian Academy. I was raised in a Christian environment. My parents provided me with a foundation in Christ. It took time to gain maturity as a Christian and in that time I let other things take priority over my relationship with Jesus. God places people in our lives at a specific time for a specific reason and in my early twenties I met my husband. He faithfully put God first in his life and encouraged me to make an effort in my relationship with Jesus. I started attending church again on a regular basis and was baptized. We were married in 1999. I thank God for His impeccable timing!
Just like a child grows and matures so does a Christian. Each year my husband and I have been part of a Bible study group at our church. The more we study the Bible the more I want to understand everything God has provided for us in His Word. With Christian maturity comes the responsibility to share the Word, which is why I have volunteered with the children at church and am blessed with the opportunity to work at ACA in the preschool area.
Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.
-- Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
As a parent I take great comfort in this verse. At a certain point in life our children have to make their own decisions. By providing my children with a foundation built on Jesus Christ I know that they will ultimately choose to follow the path He leads them down, a path of salvation and eternal life.
God Bless,
