Resource Teacher

I am so blessed to be at Ankeny Christian Academy! Being here is truly an answer to many prayers, and I am humbled as I look at my life and how God has brought me here. I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home with very Godly parents. I accepted Christ as my Savior at a young age one night after AWANAS. My life since then has been a journey; God has brought trials and blessings, and of course, always proved Himself faithful.

I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. Many of my elementary days were spent playing school with my sister and neighbor kids in our basement, and I always insisted on being the teacher. I love working with children. I have worked with them in many different capacities- babysitting, teaching Sunday school, and tutoring. I attended Northwestern College, where I majored in elementary education with a reading endorsement and minored in psychology. After graduating, I moved back home to Des Moines. I met my husband at my home church, and we were married in October of 2006. I began substitute teaching, and ended up subbing for three years. God led me to Ankeny Christian Academy, and I am so thrilled to be surrounded by such a Godly staff!

My life verses are James 1:2-4, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
