Second Grade

Hello! My name is Jill Wilson. I am excited to be at ACA this year as the 2nd grade teacher. I grew up in a Christian home in Clear Lake, where both of my parents were born-again christians. We were taught at an early age the importance of attending church, prayer, reading the Bible, and memorizing scripture. At the age of 6, my mother helped me ask Christ into my heart. There weren't alot of changes in my life, as I was only 6, but God continued to help grow my faith and understanding. When I was in sixth grade I was baptized. This was a great growing experience for me, as it was one of the first times that I had to share my testimony. During my Junior year in high school, I had the opportunity to go on a missionary trip. We camped for two months in Europe and put on shows in the city squares. The shows consisted of puppets, drama, music and clowns. I was in the clown group. After each performance, we had the opportunity to share the 4 spiritual laws with the local people. This was truly a wonderful time of growing in the Lord. He stretched and molded me during this experience. I was excited to have the opportunity to share my faith often. It was also wonderful to work with a group of believers for a common purpose.

I graduated and then went to Westmar College for two years. I transferred to Iowa State where I got my Elementary Education degree. I married my husband Marty, whom I have known since 6th grade. I have taught for 7 years in Preschool through 3rd grade. Half of those years have been in christian education. My husband and I have two children, Ethan who will be a 4th grader and Emma who will be a 2nd grader. I have homeschooled them up to this point. I am excited to get back into the classroom and especially to be at ACA.

My favorite verse is Matthew 21:22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. It is my favorite verse because we can come before the Lord in prayer anytime for anything. We may not always get what we think we need, but our heavenly Father knows what is best for us and He will give us an answer. I pray that this year God will use me in the lives of the Developmental Kindergarteners and them in my life.
