Secondary Principal

Greetings in Christian education. My name is Tim Olson, and I am the new 7-12 high school principal of Ankeny Christian Academy. My faith journey began on the day my parents made a covenant at my baptism with God. They took seriously this covenant. I was taught the Word of God comes from the Bible, and we are instructed to follow His commandments. I confirmed this faith in 8th grade, understanding the pact my parents made with God. My life's journey continues to strengthen my faith as the Holy Spirit guides me each day. I discovered early on as a young adult it is only by God's grace that I receive salvation. He also provides daily opportunities to serve Him. The Holy Spirit stirs my soul using me as a vehicle to touch lives. My high school years were in Forest City, where my dad was the high school principal for 22 years. I then attended Wartburg College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, with a minor in coaching. I met and married my best friend Michelle while teaching at Wapsie Valley of Fairbank, the first stop in our professional lives. We have since been at Boone, Hartley, and now Ankeny, all in public education. My wife and I have been blessed with three children, Paul (married and a graduate of St. Olaf, looking in January to do overseas mission work with his wife, Alana), Beth (a recent Hope College graduate, pursuing a career as a physician assistant), and Lute (a junior-to-be at Hope College with intentions of teaching mathematics and coaching). After 36 years of serving the youth of four communities, the Holy Spirit has afforded me this opportunity of being a partner in an amazing educational ministry called ACA. The scriptural base for guidance in my life is from 2 Timothy, chapter 3, verses 14-15. “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” This charge is two-fold. One is to follow the word of God, through His inspiration. The other is to share this message with others, young people in my case, to equip them for every good work. For, knowing the teachings of the Bible will indeed instruct us that eternal salvation comes through faith in Christ Jesus. It is by God's grace we are assured of life everlasting, with Him.
