I was saved in June 1996 at First Assembly of God Church on Merle Hay Road. I had heard the message during college, but it was difficult to ingest and understand all that was presented to me. I did not respond at that time.

I dated my husband, Charles, for three years and then the relationship ended. HE was saved shortly thereafter and encouraged me to turn to Christ as well, even though we were no longer together. I still did not respond at that time. Charles continued to pray for me.

Five years later, we started seeing each other again. I started to attend service with him at First Assembly. I had not attended church of any denomination for a long time. In my heart, it felt good to be attending again, even a different church. I remember one Sunday being challenged to read the Word every night for ten minutes. I did so that entire week. The next Sunday, he challenged the congregation to pray at least ten minutes every night. This was more difficult for me, but I followed through.

Shortly afterwards, Charles decided we shouldn't continue to see each other and strangely enough, I didn't really care about what was going to happen with us, but I really wanted to just be able to attend service that Sunday. Something in my heart told me I needed to be there.

That Sunday, the pastor preached on forgiveness and I wanted nothing more than forgiveness and Jesus! I couldn't wait for the call to come forward, and I practically ran forward.
