Third Grade

God gave me the privilege to be raised in a Christian family. When I was almost six years old, the conversation of salvation came up at the dinner table. My parents explained that we have all sinned (Rom 3:23) and that this sin separates us from God, and it needs to be punished (Rom 6:23). The only way to be saved from this punishment was to believe that Jesus died for our sin and to ask Him to be our own personal Savior (Rom 10:8-9). This was what it meant to be saved. By parents asked if I wanted to be saved, but I did not. I didn't think I needed salvation because I was trying to please God on my own, and I thought that Jesus and I were friends. It wasn't until two weeks later did I understand that if Jesus came back, He would not take me with Him. He loves me, but my sins were separating us. Only then did I understand my need for a Savior. That night I asked Jesus to be my payment for my sins.

As I grew older, the Lord allowed me to also grow in my walk with Him. When I was seven I was baptized. Later, when I was thirteen, I made a decision at Bible camp to be in God's Word daily. After high school, I pursued knowing the Bible more by choosing a Bible College. God lead me to Faith Baptist Bible College were I graduated with an Elementary Education Degree.

Today, I am active in Children and Youth ministries at Nevada Baptist Church. I also have the privilege to teach third grade at Ankeny Christian Academy. I enjoy any opportunity to teach children about the God I've come to love.
