Our reading programs use a phonics-based curriculum and teaching techniques and we have a Resource Teacher for students that need extra help.
We allow a maximum of 14 students for our developmental kindergarten class. We allow a maximum of 24 students in our kindergarten through 6th grade classes. Currently we have two kindergarten and two 1st grade classes. When the class exceeds our maximum, we consider having an additional class in that grade. We determine class rosters from the following: spiritual maturity, academic ability, gender, race/ethnicity, spiritual maturity, emotional intelligence (behavior), and personality.
Our students have the opportunity to participate in ACSI Math Olympiad, Speech Meets, Art Festival, Science Fair, Spelling Bee, and Vocal and Band Competitions.
Each week ACA conducts two chapel services, one for elementary students and one for 7-12th grade students. Many local Pastors and Missionaries share a message at both chapels. The elementary chapel includes: singing, prayer; and a brief message. Students play a major role in secondary chapel. Secondary students are led through worship and prayer by the chapel team.
Social activities include student government, class socials, formal homecoming banquet, high school retreats, leadership weekends, and class trips including a trip to Washington DC. Community service activities are also included in the high school curriculum to help students become socially responsible. These include community activities and local charity outreaches.
The secondary curriculum is designed to provide a selection of college preparatory coursework for future collegiate studies. Our graduates have been accepted to many Colleges and Universities. Several have received both sport and academic scholarships. A recent ACA graduate received a $4000.00 scholarship to Iowa State University for class rank and another received a full ride $65,000 scholarship to AIB for an accounting degree.
