Comments from Mrs. Carlson:
Amazingly enough, we are finishing our last few days of school. WOW!
It's been a very full year, and we are all ready for a summer break. However, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of
regular, DAILY summer practice in reading, spelling, writing and math skills. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. I hope several
of you will take some regular tutoring sessions to not only maintain skills, but imperatively improve over the summer.
This last month has been a struggle for several--some because of the difficulty of the skill level and for others, the non-beneficial choice of not wanting to do their best or not
turning in the work. Unfortunately, this spiraled down many grades in recent weeks. I truly pray students and their families will make the time
to keep minds sharp with at least 60 minutes a day on skills and 60 minutes a day on reading (aloud and/or silent.)Do a little every morning and a
little every night, maybe even after lunch, and each student will be primed for their next grade by August. YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!
ACA has recently offered a summer time supplement workbook for all elementary grades. It looks like a great program at a reasonable price to invest
in. Information was sent home or emailed last week. Whatever material or program you chose to do, just be sure to do it. It's great to have
refreshment of a changed schedule and some outdoor fun. But again, it will be CRITICALLY IMPORTANT for most students to keep academically active
this summer.
Of course, "Apart from me (God), you (we) can do nothing." {John 15:5} We must all stay in the Word of God regularly. Use a simple devotional if you don't already have a
daily Bible reading time. Or, very simply, continue to read a verse or two in Proverbs every day. You'll sure to discover the treasure of God's precepts!
Please remember to pray for the Poe Family who plan to go on a missions trip to Brazil this summer. Pray for the military,
including Payton's brother-in-law and uncle who are presently deployed. Pray for the Criders in France as they prepare for serving in Africa. Pray for
health and safety for all. Pray for the possibility of selling/buying/moving locally for several families. Pray for ACA and all of God's plans for it over the
summer. Pray for God's blessings on all our families with whatever the Lord keeps us busy doing this summer. May we honor God in all our days.
Thank you for blessing me with you -the student--and your families, with the many encouraging words, actions, and gifts bestowed upon me throughout the school year. May God return the blessings to you 100-fold.
Serving a Mighty and Loving God,
Mrs. Kelly Carlson
