News and Notes:

Field Trip- We are looking forward to our field trip to the Ankeny Fire Station on May 27th. We will be leaving school at 9:30 and are planning on returning around 1:30. Weather permitting, we will be walking to the station and then enjoying our lunch and a dessert at Hawkeye Park. In case of bad weather, I'm hoping there will be a few parents who are able to drive. Please have your child bring a cold lunch on Thursday that does not require a microwave.

-Please return the TWO permission slips as soon as possible. I have received many, but am still looking for a few more.

-Also, Please let me know if you are planning on walking with us on Thursday. I have a few parent volunteers, but more are welcome. Also, please let me or Heather Jacobs know if you are willing to bring toppings for our ice cream sundae!

Track and Field Awards- The awards ceremony for track and field day will be Tuesday, May 25, at 2:00 in the auditorium.

Back to School Supplies- PTF is sending home surveys to see if there is any interest in purchasing your back to school supplies through them. This would be an easy, hassle free way to have your school supplies waiting for your child on the first day of school. Please fill out the survey and send it back to school with your child as soon as possible. More information will be coming out over the summer.

Awards Ceremony- There will be a school awards ceremony for 1st-12th grades on Thursday, June 3, starting at 10:00.

Library- If you have not done so already, all books need to be returned to the library. Books were due this past week.

Trash” Needed- I am planning a project for the last week of school and am need of donations of your “trash.” I am looking for CLEAN sour cream containers, cereal boxes, twist ties, bottle tops, lids to glass jars (no glass please), spaghetti boxes, toilet paper rolls, etc. etc. etc. If you could collect some of these items and anything else that students could create with, I would be very appreciative! I have been collecting for awhile, but don't have enough! Bring them in whenever as I will have a big box here at school to collect all our “goodies.”

Looking forward: May 25- Track and Field Day Awards Ceremony- 2:00

May 27- Field Trip to Ankeny Fire Station

June 3- Last day of school
