There is a revised dress code policy that will be enforced for the 2010-2011 school year. The crossed out section signifies this year’s policy which will be different for next year. The change is written after the crossed out section. In the meantime, many students and families are being reminded of our present policies, as our temperatures and season of clothes have changed. During the summer months parents are encouraged to evaluate facebook and text messages of children. Please note the following current policy with the pending changes noted:

REMINDER OF CODE OF CONDUCT  Our goal should always be to obey the Scripture that says, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17, NIV). In the best interest of the entire school community certain guidelines of conduct must be maintained by all students of Ankeny Christian Academy, both on and off campus throughout the entire calendar year, so that we might all live and work happily together. Please note the following:

Pagers and cell phones are to be turned off and kept in the students’ vehicles or lockers. Students are not allowed to use cell phones during school hours. Cell phone use off campus for school events will only be allowed at the discretion of official school personnel and restrictions may be added.

Students’ various electronic communications (i.e. text messages, instant messaging, personal blogs, web sites, or other communication methods) will have an appropriate Christian testimony through their conveyed words, photos, videos, and other items contained within these communications.

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL NEWS: ACA has joined two other schools for two different sports. Iowa Christian Academy is the hosting team for boys’ varsity baseball and Grandview Park Baptist School is the host for girls’ varsity softball. The baseball schedule is on the Iowa Christian Academy website and the softball schedule is on the Grandview Park Baptist School website.

TRIP: No orders will be taken on Monday, May 31. Summer orders will be taken the following Mondays: June 14, 28, July 12, 26, and August 9. Regular weekly orders will begin on August 23.

ACA girls advance to Regional Golf Tournament: The Eagles played Regionals at the Montezuma Country Club on Monday, May 24. Victoria Grasso will represent ACA at the State Golf Tournament next week in Adel, June 1 and 2. Victoria qualified for the Class 1A State Tournament after she shot 41-39--80 and finished as medalist. The ACA team placed third, one place better than last year, but only the top two teams advance to the State Tournament. Congratulations, girls on a great season! The top two teams advance to the State Tournament at River Valley Golf Course in Adel on June 1 and 2.

BOYS GOLF FINISHED IN 10TH: The boys finished their season with a 10th place finish at the District Tournament held at Pheasant Ridge Golf course in Cedar Falls. Although finishing without medals, the boys team played very well by shooting a season and school record 351 (175.5 average for 9 holes) in their attempt to move on to state as a team. Only two teams advance to state along with the top 4 individuals.

ACA was led by Andy Harmsen with an 81 and was followed by Kaleb Kruger and John Kruse, both shooting 86, Jason Cameron and Joey Reed both with 98 and Jay Snyder (99).The team score was the lowest in competition for the ACA boys in the school history. As Coach Bob Snyder states “This shows dedication and effort they have put into their games over the entire season and that they performed their best when it counted … Although we did not meet our goal for the year, it was not due to a lack of effort, preparation, or dedication to improving over the course of the season. (The) boys represented ACA very well and were a pillar of good Christian character the entire year.”
