Golfers receive all-State, all-District honors

Ankeny Christian Academy golfer Victoria Grasso has been named Class 1A Golfer of the Year by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. She also was named first-team all-tournament and first-team all-state.

ACA teammate Mickensee Wilson was named second-team all-state by the IHSGCA. Both golfers were named to the Class 1A All-District Team (for the West Central District) by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Victoria received her honors by finishing as runner-up in the Class 1A State Tournament and for having the lowest stroke average in the state among Class 1A golfers ranked by the IHSGCA. She finished the year with a 40.6 average for nine holes.

Victoria was medalist in every Class 1A and 2A meet she played in, except the State Tournament, when she finished second to senior Jocilyn Onnen of Grundy Center, a player she had defeated three times in high school golf. Victoria, a sophomore, was medalist at the Panorama Tournament, the District Tournament, and the Regional Tournament. She also finished fourth in the Ankeny Hawkette Invitational, playing against Class 4A golfers.

Mickensee ranked among the top 20 Class 1A golfers according to the IHSGCA. She was runner-up medalist at the Rolling Hills Conference Tournament and placed third at the Panorama Invitational. She was reserve medalist four times and placed third three times. She finished the year with a 48.3 average for nine holes.
