Thank you to those of you that attended the Annual Meeting on Tuesday evening, May 18. What a joy it was to see God’s hand at work at ACA, as we reviewed the happenings that have come about this past year! Two new board members were voted into office. Congratulations to Angel Trier and Jim Jordahl who will serve on the ACA Board of Education for school years 2010-2013. Also, congratulations to Josh Craighead and Bob Deo who will both be serving their second term as board members. The board members and I wish to thank Mrs. Beth Heggen for her years of service on the board. She has served not only as the secretary for the past five years but also served as the Education Committee Chair and chaired on the Fine Arts Booster Ad Hoc Committee which became the Fine Arts Committee on Tuesday, May 18, during the Annual Meeting. Also, the School Improvement Advisory Committee was voted in as a new committee during the Annual meeting. Mrs. Heggen and Mrs. McWilliams have worked for a full year preparing our handbooks into the Board of Education policy book. The work Mrs. Heggen provided me to prepare for the accreditation on site visit by the state was invaluable!
The faculty and staff met last week with Mr. Reed to conduct a brainstorming session for the building layout for 2010-2011 with two sections of developmental kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade. Much needs to be done to prepare for next fall and the start to the school year. In June, Frenchway Cleaners will relocate to another space in the strip mall so that a classroom can be readied for use in August. There will be many classrooms that will move to accommodate the number of students that have enrolled for next year.
With many Christian schools experiencing reduction in student population and staff, we praise God for the growth that has been experienced at Ankeny Christian Academy. We are grateful our dedicated parents who believe in providing their child(ren) with a strong Christian education that embraces a Biblical world view.
As the year began faculty and staff chose the verses I Thessalonians 5:16-18 to commemorate the year. Let us now look to the scripture to assist us as we look to the conclusion of this school year. “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” We look toward the conclusion of this year joyfully praying and giving God our thanks!
Serving the King,
Mrs. Joyce Hansen
